If you joined Spartan Races in 2016, then you would know the latest news announce by Spartan Race Malaysia, which are the Age Category Award for Competitive Heat and Trifecta Pass.
If you did not join any Spartan Race before but thinking to join Spartan Sprint 2017, these are the good news for you too!
So, why Age Category Award for Competitive Heat is good news? First of all, you would need to know which category you register for Spartan Races. There are three category - Elite, Competitive and Open.

Elite :
These athletes are competing to win prize money, test themselves against the best of the best, attract potential sponsors, and rise to the top of the Spartan Race Point Series. Elite Racers commit to flawless sportsmanship and adhere strictly to the race rules and guidelines. Racers who fail to follow these guidelines risk disqualification.- In simple way, Elite racers go all by themselves, once failed burpees it is, no helping no trying no skipping what-so-ever.
Competitive :
Is designed to address the gap between our Open class racers and our Elites. Competitive Racers will be expected to follow the same rules and standards as the Elite racers. These racers compete for glory and bragging rights, not money.- Now each age-group have award for the first! Choose competitive category if you think you able to conquer the course without help but not going to a tough competition.
Open :
The Open category is for everyone, period. Weekend warriors, novice athletes, first-time racers, and teams are all welcome here. The Open category offers the same opportunity as the Competitive and Elite categories to get far outside your comfort zone, test your body’s limits, and experience the awesome rush of the finish line. However, there’s no pressure to push your pace.- Go on to test your limits with your friends, family, teammates! Motivating and helping each others! This category is for all, just jump out from your comfort zone and go for it!
Now you got the clearer idea which category to go for and what to expect for each category. Basically, obstacles for all three categories are the same, just the requirement for completion vary. For Elite and Competitive are compulsory to conquer every obstacles on owns effort, whereas more of encouragement to complete for Open-heat.
What about Trifecta Pass? If you read my previous post, probably you should know what is Spartan Trifecta, and personally prefer to call it Spartan Pizza!
